In 1957 Mr. Gene George lived in Bell, CA. and was driving trucks for a Beverage company, He saw the development of the neighborhoods in the area. He decided that he wanted to do something different with his career and saw the need for different landscaping plants in the housing market. He went to Texas and brought back Sego Palms, Yucca trees, Cactus, and Agave plants and palms. He sold them to landscapers.
After 2 years Mr. George grew tired of the driving to the southwest to buy plants. He saw the need for maintenance on the mature trees and the planting of trees here in Southern California. He started a tree and Landscape company in the City of Bell in 1959. As the company grew, he was one of the first in the area to have a full-service tree company. He contracted with most cities and school districts in the area.
The business flourished through the sixties and into the seventies. As the business was growing, he needed help daily operations and sales. He approached his nephew Tom and asked if he would help with the company. Tom started in 1977 doing sales, estimating and supervising the crews. In 1979 Mr. George decided to retire to Arizona and offered to sell the business to his nephew. They came to an agreement and Tom took over the Company in 1979. To this day he still operates the company after 42 years of ownership. Throughout the years many of his customers have become closest friends. He hopes to continue with the business for many more years.
